Questions & Answers - Developmental Concerns
Do you have recommendations for drooling? My little boy is 2-1/2 and
he is teething but drools all the time. We change his bib every
1-1/2 hours. He is starting to walk independently.
Even though some children are still cutting teeth (mostly molars) at
2-1/2, constant drooling beyond about age 18 months is considered to be
atypical. Since you mentioned your son is also just starting to walk by
himself, I am wondering if he has a diagnosis or other delay which may
be contributing and I am hoping he is already receiving early
intervention services?
You can read our answer to a similar question about drooling
at this link, which provides some suggestions:
This
article from our Thrive Place website also addresses drooling and
tips to decrease it.
I would definitely seek the advice of a speech therapist for your son
to see if there is another reason (besides teething) as to why he is
drooling so much. And, if he is not yet enrolled in early intervention,
I would seek a full team evaluation for your son. Since your question
did not come through the website, I am not sure where you live (county,
city, state) or I could direct you to an early intervention provider in
your area.
