Food & Eating Delays

Back to:  Therapist Questions & Answers - Food Concerns

We would really like to know if you have any child food therapists listed in Jakarta, Indonesia? Actually the problem I am facing is that my 16 month old daughter's eating is reducing, meaning she starts resisting from the 1st bite itself. Is that normal? I end up forcing her to eat and getting frustrated myself! The mealtimes have become extremely stressful for me as well as my daughter. I keep surfing the net all the time for new recipes but she rejects almost everything. Am I overly worried or do we need to seek early intervention from a therapist?

I found the website for the Children's Therapy Center in Jakarta and through another link I also saw that one of their speech therapists by the name of Evi Sabir has completed training in feeding therapy. This is the link: http://www.kailila.com/Services/Services.html , there are phone numbers and emails on their site. I would definitely contact them for more information on getting a feeding evaluation completed for your daughter, since addressing the problem now is important. From experience, we have found that there is no such thing as an overly worried parent...you know your child best and if you are worried, stressed and frustrated, then there is a problem that needs addressed. I hope someone at the above link can help you or direct you to another occupational therapist/speech therapist/ feeding specialist in your area.
